So to all my readers who have been wondering where I've been for a month, I was having my adventurous trip to Korea! During my month long trip I have met wonderful people and experienced great culture. I went to Korea without any "travel packages" or "personal guide" because I thought that would take away that feeling of being 'adventurous'. And honestly, I think not having a structured travel plans was the greatest decision I made in this trip. The feeling of not knowing what I'll do that day kicks my adrenaline! So I will post several detailed travel logs for you guys to use and enjoy. |
Station #1: National Museum of Korea
Before I went to a famous restaurant or sightseeings, I decided to explore Korean history and traditions first. After having difficult time of choosing which museum I wanted to go, my mind was set on National Museum of Korea. It is the largest and most 'history-rich' if you would say of all the museums in Korea.
When I first got to the museum I stopped walking and just stared. After a minute or two I let my self finally say "Wow..." The museum it self is just grand, modern yet regal. This breath-taking feeling didn't end here. As I walked in to the museum, I was in a space where I felt like I needed to take off my shoes. The floors and the walls were all marbles that again gives the 'regal' feeling.
Station No. 2: Unnie's Hambag
After taking in all the informations in the museum, I got really hungry so I pulled out my phone and starting searching for "맛집" (Korean saying for restaurants with good food: Mat Jib). And I came across this place called Unnie's Hambag that is located in front of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Hambag is just a hamburger patty. In olden days of Korean society, hambag was considered to be an equal level as a 'steak' so whenever there was a need to celebrate in ones family, they all went out to eat 'hambag'. And the fact that this place is called Unnie's (Unnie in Korean is sister) Hambag gives a warm inviting feeling. This place has a unique hambag that goes like this (Bottom to Top) Tomato based sauce-> Bean sprouts->Hambag (Patty)->Fried Egg-> Scallions-> Fried shredded potato The food itself was really unique and I think most Americans would enjoy this food. | Unnie's Hambag Menu 1.
